Big Black Creek Historical Association

The Woodland Baptist Church was established by Obadiah Dodson in 1835 from members split from The Brown's Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

This sign by the church tells the story of the creation of The Woodland Baptist Church.

The church building

The Woodland Academy was located on the grounds of The Woodland Church from 1880 until 1890 when a new school was built 2 miles from The Woodland School building. This marker is at the site of the old school house in front of the current Woodland Baptist Church building.
