The Taylor / French Cemetery is located in the woods off RT. 223 approximately 3 miles from Denmark, it is not visible from the road.
Members of The Big Black Creek Historical Association cleared this cemetery in January of 2009, There is a slave cemetery located adjacent to the main section. Separate burial grounds was a common practice in the 1800's.

This was originally on top of an arch leading into the French section of the cemetery, it was discovered buried close to where it fell after the cemetery was forgotten.
James K. Polk Caldwell was a relative of the 11th. U.S. President James K. Polk. President Polk was Governor of Tennessee from 1839 unril 1841 before he was elected president.
