The Springfield's were wealthy farmers in the Denmark, TN. area in the mid 1800's. This 4 grave family burial ground is in the middle of a farm field not far from Denmark.
The land owner had sprayed weed killer before each planting season, this prevented trees from taking root in this 4 grave family cemetery.
Once again we see very ornate metal fencing.

This fencing was very heavy, each section weighed several hundred pounds!
The 4 graves
Each stone's base was made for the specific tombstone the stone cutter made. We rearranged the stones several times until we found the correct stone to base combination thus insuring we had the correct marker over the right grave.
Springfield Cemetery marked with one of our Big Black Creek Historical Association markers. August 13, 2009.
